new pattern covers!

I recently reworked the cover pages for my patterns and created a new logo.... what do you think?

Another pattern is on its way in the next week or two -- the laptop envelope! It's a simple, straightforward pattern that will include instructions for tweaking the pattern to fit your own laptop.

My patterns are now available at wholesalepursepatterns.com for wholesale retail orders, and I just launched my new website! It's a basic website for now, but a start in the right direction. I used a free template from Weebly.

I'll keep you updated on my progress with the laptop pattern! Keep me in line and bug me if it's not done in two weeks :)

sewing patterns at Red Rooster

Sometimes it's hard to work up the courage to show your creations to someone new and unfamiliar, much less try to sell your products to a brick & mortar store. Does anyone else know how I feel? But, sometimes you just have to do it, work up the courage, and realize that the worst someone can say is no.

Today, I went to Red Rooster in downtown Logan, Utah.... and I left wondering why I had been so scared! Kaye, the owner, was lovely, and the shop is beautiful. I sold her some of my patterns, and left feeling quite encouraged :)

I've been selling my sewing patterns in my shop for the past couple of weeks, and I've been asking folks to send me their completed projects...
Here's the first photo I received! How exciting to see a pattern I've made transformed into a bag that will be loved by someone else :) [this bag was made by Rachel using the Sparrow Originals Mini Flap Purse pattern]

morning project time

Mornings are definitely the most productive for me. Especially in the summer, when the thermometer starts rising quickly around noon (it's been in the mid 90s here, and our little house lacks an air conditioner).

So if I have a free morning, I often confine myself to my little basement sewing room. It's like a cave - quite dark, but cooler than the rest of the house. I willingly descended into the cave this morning because I've had a project I've been wanting to do.
Yay, skirt-slash-top!

Diapers to Diplomas

Just a little plug for my sister-in-law Beth, who is an amazing mom and incredibly creative woman -- She's launching a site filled with tips and ideas for parents, so go check it out: http://diapers-to-diplomas.blogspot.com/ You should also vote for which ideas you'd like to see on the site!

success!

I have been so pleased with the success of my new sewing patterns! They've been listed on Etsy for less than a week, and already I've sold 8 patterns, yippee!

I had been looking for a way to consistently have items listed in my shop, and for a way to make selling on Etsy fit into my busy schedule a little bit better. I think I found it!
